Spring Concert Announced
Flowers are blooming, grass is turning green, ppring is in the air. Come out and celebrate the new season and the second anniversary of the Frisco Community Band by attending the FCB's Spring Concert, Tuesday, March 28, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Frisco High School Auditorium, 6401 Parkwood Blvd., Frisco.

The music-filled evening includes performances by the Concert and Jazz Bands and various ensembles.

John "JD" Smith, band president, is excited about their two year anniversary in March. "We've had an awesome first two years. We've played at a lot of different venues, are building up a wide variety of music in our repertoire, have a lot of Frisco area musicians involved, and have excellent directors. Everything has come together to form an outstanding music program. If you want to hear some great music from local musicians, we'll be at Frisco High on the 28th. If you are looking for a place to play I encourage you to stop by and check us out at the concert and at our weekly Tuesday night rehearsals. We have a lot of fun!"

Accepting New Members
The Frisco Community Band is looking for musicians to join the Concert Band. All musicians with at least high school music experience are invited to join. No tryouts are required. If it has been a while since you have played, get that horn out of the attic, dust it off, and get back into the fun of playing music again.

John "JD" Smith, founder and president of the Frisco Community Band, is excited about the opportunities that the band provides: "When we formed this band two years ago, we wanted to provide a place where Frisco area musicians can play on a regular basis. It also provides a great family opportunity for you to play in a band with your high school aged musician. I played with my parents in the Denton Community Band while in high school, now my oldest son will be playing with me real soon when he starts at Wakeland High this next school year. If you like to play jazz, we have a jazz band. If you like to play small ensemble type music, we have that too. And of course classical symphonic music in the Concert Band. It's really a great music program.

The Concert Band is directed by Dr. Daryl Trent. Associate director is Ms. Alyson Villarreal. Both are band directors at Frisco High School. Concert Band rehearsals are on Tuesday nights at Frisco High School in the band hall, starting at 7:30 pm.

The Frisco Community Band was formed in Spring 2004 as a non-profit, all volunteer organization benefiting the City of Frisco and its neighboring communities. The band provides local musicians with the opportunity to expand or continue their experience in the performing arts with the ultimate purpose of making live, symphonic and ensemble music accessible to all segments of the community.

The Frisco Community Band exists with the support of the Frisco Association of the Arts and Target and funded through grants, donations and member dues. All area musicians with at least high school experience are welcome. There are no auditions for the Concert Band. Performances are free to the public.
