The Frisco Area Children’s Theater presents the enchanting story of “The Velveteen Rabbit” based
on the story by Margery Williams. Follow the unique heart warming adventures of a little toy rabbit that longs to
be real. Every night the toys in the nursery come alive and talk. The other toys look down on the Velveteen Rabbit
because he is just a stuffed toy and not mechanical. The old Skin Horse befriends the little Rabbit and tries to
teach him about becoming “Real.” The Rabbit goes on adventures with his human friend, Andrea and
comforts her and while she is ill with scarlet fever. Through the miracle of love and a magic Fairy, The Velveteen
Rabbit becomes real and is no longer a toy but a real rabbit that can now dance with the other rabbits in the woods.
Aileen Brady, the Theater’s Artistic Director and Director of “The Velveteen Rabbit” explains
“This has always been one of my favorite stories as a child. My Mother gave me the book when I was twelve and
I thought ‘I’m too old for this story’, but then I read it and fell in love with it. I really care
about the characters and the sweet simplicity of how love makes us real!”
Presented by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Services, Inc.
